All students whose age ranges are 15 - 17 years of age and successfully completes our ODOT-approved courses through Horizon Driver Education are Granted a Drive Test Waiver by The Oregon DMV.
Mandatory Attendance.
The Oregon Department of Transportation - Transportation Safety Division will authorize a certificate of completion only to those individuals who successfully complete the minimum 30 hours of classroom instruction and 12 hours of in-car training (6-hours of driving and 6-hours of observation). Therefore, students must attend a full 30 hours of classroom, earn a passing score of 80% on classroom exams and 12 hours of in-car sessions.
Parents/Mentors:
Guided practice behind the wheel requires that you provide a minimum of 5 hours of supervised home practice for your teen prior to the completion of this course. DMV also requires 50 hours of supervised practice done at home with the kids before completing this course.
ODOT Driver Education Program pays partial tuition for all Oregon students between the ages of 15 and 17. As a result, Horizon Driver Education Program offers an additional $75 discount for low-income student that qualifies for SNAP, free and reduced school lunches.
